The broken bit of the key is well stuck in there and not for coming out.
So first I needed a long punch.
To knock out the hinge pins.
They came out fairly easily.
DOH!!!!
Was trying to keep rework to a minimum, masking tape took off the paint!

Sorted, had to wait for Mrs to get back before pushing from the other side just in case it toppled in.
Yes, but now that bit of paint is missing he's going to have to redecorate the entire house, and while he's at it, he might as well build an extension, add some dormer windows, solar and hot water panels and anything else we can think of. Mole grips around the hinge half attached to the door could also work to pull if you could not access the other side.
The bolt usually has a couple of loose spinning hardened pins in it so you'd be lucky to get through it with anything other than a grinder
The hinge pins would be on the same side as he's stood unless it's a saloon door and swings both waysMove to the other side of the door - can you knock the pins out of the hinges? Then "open" the door at the hinge side, once the door is off you remove the lock and replace as normal.
Did that many years ago with a solid wood back door that had swelled and lock had seized.
Anyway, it's been hours since you asked. Is it open yet?

Bearing in mind where we are, much better to have welded something to the hinge pins to allow them to be hammered out . . .I particularly liked the employment of the lathe.
