chances are... you just have fairly big files and slow dsl?... if you do the best thing to do it just leave it going overnight :-)

(p.s. I'm assuming you're wired not wireless?)

File size shows as 727MB [the camera does that, I could reduce the size by going for lower resolution, but that's less useful if you need it as evidence in the event of an accident? I'm thinking clarity of number plate etc

The speed test I've done before and although it doesn't compare favourably with what some of you'll be getting it's not usually a problem with 'normal' u/loading of pics etc, provided I reduce file size in P/Shop.

We have fibre broadband 'to cabinet' [about 50 yds away] and my main pc is connected to the wireless modem by cable [just 'cos I had it.] Speed isn't a problem with wireless on the l/top, tablet of even phone [which I tend not to use for 'net stuff].

I'ts just taken approx 1.5 hrs to u/load a 3 minute clip off the camera - and I can't believe I u/loaded to wrong clip...... I'm really not safe to be left unsupervised, a bit like @The_Yellow_Ardvark used to have in his sig....

that's about 3gig/hour... which sounds about right for most dash cams, they do practically zero (or zero) transcoding/compression, because that needs processing power which would make them more expensive to make

Send it to someone via Whatsapp. That's how I compress all my phone videos, I send them to the wife then copy the (vastly reduced) sent file from my phone to the PC. Last one I sent was reduced to 6mb for a 20 second clip.

Convert before uploading to reduce size.

If you want to transfer the video file to the people you want to see it use a large file transfer service like https://transfer.pcloud.com/
This allows files upto 5 Gb to be sent which can the be viewed at the recipients leisure. Service is completely free & as I’ve used it several times myself so I can testify to its ease of use.

ive chosen ways to do this for mine lower its resolution on the camera

choose what size im going to upload for most its below 200mb file size

what site im going to use to upload too

so i use dailymotion as its free and also a dropbox account this helps as you can provide a https link for them to view the file or download it with like dropbox
note no insurance will download it, also comes in handy with the likes and ebay and companys saying they have delivered your item

i decided to keep dropbox as a more private account so opened an account on youtube but they wanted too much info so opened a dailymotion site instead to upload

file size/resolution if you cant use a smaller size on the video police request you dont then split the file into 2 parts 750mb file into 2 = 375mb file

a final reminder if for a claim or for the police they want the original file intact keep both the original file and also the split file

I haven't tried, but I don't think that will work with a 1700meg video

what size clip are you talking about id be expecting a film of 2 hrs on hd for that size of file

i'm guessing its a RAW file, rather than mpeg/avi

nope raw file is much bigger than mpeg/avi is smaller due to its encryption or better known as the codec that is used

mpeg is a larger file while mp4 is a smaller file due to compression rate

h264codec is a free hd codec but there is a paid version which is better there is also h265 codec
