help fining "good" air tools.

i am having a hard time getting air tools at will last longer then 3 months.(hobby use i don't do any trades or have a job that need tools.)

-drill any size chuck
-grinders 4 1/2" or bigger (i have a cut off saw)
-nimbler


and anything else you guy/gals can think of. i have no need for and paint gear.(got a nice kit)

i forgot i have an air compressor that dose 18.5 CFM so to power these tool will not be at all hard for it, (it's a shame that i have never bin able to fully use it. to give you an idea i can leave a air hose open @ 135psi on it when its running i can't empty the tank)

p.s no this is not an ad all tho it sound like one.

I've only used the cheapy air tools from Clarke and the like but I believe Ingersoll Rand make some decent stuff.

A search on google throws up a couple of suppliers in the the UK

What sort of filter/lubricator do you use? Water in air tools will kill them very quickly, as will lack of oil.

i have no cule have i have for a filter. it's look like some it that pro shops use.

works great i love it (it all way on my compressor filters are a must have for painting.)

lubricator i have this small bottle of "air tool oil".

may be my method is in question
-before use i put 4 drops of oil in the tool where the manual says it need to go.

-after 1-3 sec shot of wd-40 where the air goes and after 1 min 4 drops of oil in it.

i know this is overkill (i hope) but i am getting tired of getting new air tools.

I would get an oiler.

WD40 is crappy oil. Many are saying it now causes rust as it is different than it used to be (spray a door hinge, come back in a few weeks and it is rusted.) Others say it blocks oil from working.

Ingersol Rand tools are good. Also Craftsman are good. I have a Cratsman 3/8 drive air rachet that is over 20 years old. I have a Husky die grinder that has been worked real hard over the last 4 years (hard as far as DIY use.) Still works well.

^i am not using wd-40 for oil just to keep the water out but it maybe stopping the oil from working.

the reason for that is this i have nitro rc's and after every run i put a shot of wd-40 in it to keep it from rusting. works great not a spot of rust yet.

i will see if i can fine this "oiler". i really wished that i could fine some of the old air tools they are built to last.

i don't like Husky there air compressor bring a new meaning to the word :full maybe the tools are better??

p.s wd-40 is only good for cleaning, and keeping water out it NOT a lube i pity the fool that use it in this way.

p.p.s yes i was once that fool so just to let you know in case you did that same thing.

Chicago Pneumatic, Ingersoll Rand, Desoutter are top of the range air tools.
But you will have to pay for the quality.

I rarely use air tools, but when i do, they are used intensively. As long as theyre keped lubricated, i havnt had any problems with the clarke/sip/sealey ranges.

I do think it's an oiling/water issue. 3 months is terrible for tool life -- I'd imagine that's well within guarantee (subtle hint). This for example. Of course, you want to drain the compressor and, if you're spraying, to tee out before the oiler for pure air!

^ yeah your right i can return them however the place i get them from "ask what tool i am i bring back now" i am getting tried of being halve way thought what i am doing and the damn thing die

no it's not from lack of air.

It will be an oil water issue. They should run for ages and last at least as long as the electric equivalent. Get an oiler and drain the water from the compressor!
