Hi all I'm after a good ac dc tig .
Has to be single phase
With a decent ac hf start .and not China rubbish
Any recommendations please...
Seen a few retch. Mega tropic. Pare weld. Lincoln. .
The term "china rubbish" isn't that relevant any more because most if not all contain something inside made from there yet in lot of cases it doesn't compromise quality. RTech and parweld are completely built in china but the important thing is they are looked after over here so you've got back up. High end brands like ewm esab miller fronius etc are built and RnD'd to much higher standards but as tigman rightly said they will cost you a small fortune. We can throw brands at you all day but without knowing a top line layout it's pretty pointless. I suggest a fronius magicwave 2200 job with cooler and pedal if you've got 5 grand to shell out.
I'm spoilt for choice kempi and esab sound OK .I did phone rtec this morning about there 250amp ac dc tig complete setup ..1400
And 2 year warranty ..also had talk on the phone to parweld similar story .I'd sooner buy new then a secondhand one tbh .just more warranty purposes..fed up of eBay hunting...price wise 1000.1500 has to be single phase .
That's dead easy then there is no contest. Gys207 acdc.
It will be top end of budget but for the money it's as good as you'll get for a new machine.
If you can stretch a little further ie £1800-£1900 mark then go for the gys208. Same machine as the 207 but watercooling built in which is much nicer than gas cooling. IMO that is the ONLY new machine I would consider with your limited budget.
Many thanks Richard I'm not really up on tig hernce the questions .thing is once u ask a question regards tig on ebay the replies are very convincing to buy one
Ie parweld and retch both seem good .I'll have a search on ur model richard
Rtech and par weld owners all over this forum with good reviews. Gys IMO regarding the Tig outfits are another step up and I believe the Gys inverters are assembled in France. Could be wrong though so no quoting on that. If I had to chose new for less than 2k it would with no hesitation be a gys208 and that's saying something because as other members will tell you I'm very fussy about kit. I have used a couple of the newer Gys range Tig 168 and pearl 190 mig in the last months only demos but still they were very nice compact quality machines. Good looking units too.
There was a time when eBay was littered with them spares or repairs and they would fail on PCb. Not the case now. The Tigs are now produced in France to much better standards and you rarely see them crop up any more now as they tend to last.
