Help Advice needed! Steel sphere needed...

Hi, I'm looking for some advice or maybe someone could point me in the right direction!? My wife and I have recently spent a great deal of time on the garden and we're really committed to building a water feature. What we are desperately looking to et our hands on is a hollow mild steel sphere. 700mm in diameter and 6mm thick. I understand that the best way to achieve this is to get half spheres and weld them together my self. Can anyone possibly help me out in where I could find someone that makes these half spheres? Would be really great to hear some feedback! Have a great day Daniel

I'd also be inclined to use stainless on a water feature unless you're set on having rusty water in it!

Stainless 700 x 6 hollow ball that's going to cost As is the steel one that will as Dan Says turn your water orange. Drilled manufactured stone balls are likely freely available much cheaper and stone don't rust. Hope the idea works coz it sounds like its going to eat some cash

Have you thought of copper? I've made a few water features for inside and outside from old copper cylinders. The base is silver soldered on so can be un-soldered and when inverted makes a decent catchment. The shell is a reasonable thickness. Before annealing though you will need to remove the lacquer or whatever they coat it with. Copper weathers nicely and looks the business.

I have a plan for one of my ponds that involves a big copper fish head, it turns a lovely green when weathered and obviously doesn't rust
