Hello all. I've recently been given a mig welder by a friend of mine but have not done any welding at all for about 15yrs!
Looking forward to having a tinker about with it and have a couple of projects in mind like repairing my old trailer and maybe a patio wood burner?
Lots of good info and ideas here and have been inspired.

Should tidy up quite nicely, looks to be able to do gas & gasless. Do you have a gas regulator with it?

Yes it's got a regulator but it does not have a guage on it .

hmmmm good luck with that one. afaik kennedy are rebadged from the same people who make silverline stuff. we have them in work for maintenance to use when the welders are off. 2 stick sets that are waiting for repair as they both went pop on the same job, 2 migs, one of which hasn't worked for about 2 years and the other has wire feed issues, and then surprisingly an inverter mma machine that will easily match my parweld except it is only a 130 amp machine, but weld quality is very good from it and has never failed to work

Yep that's the type.

That regulator is for small disposable gas cylinders and they can cost you a small fortune in a short space of time so if you plan on using gas and providing the machine works ok, upgrading to a larger Co2 or Argoshield regulator and cylinder would be a worthwhile expense.

The serial number label on the front might give you an idea how old the machine is. Check the wire condition on the drum for tiny rust spots and if there are any, run the outer layer off to see if it is ok underneath. Any rust will drive you mad first time you use it with gas and can contaminate the torch liner.

The machine works fine, I tested it out but with a cylinder of c02 not c01/argon. I'd be interested to see if it would do gas less, how does that work do I just put gas less wire in and away to go?
I'm completely green at settings etc... But can weld ok once all is in order. Been a few yrs tho.

You need to swap the polarity for gasless, there's a label in the wirefeed showing which connections for gas/gasless.
