Hi there, my names michael, i came on here to get some input on what was the best 240 volt mig welder, i was looking for something that went as low as 20amps for car bodywork but had a bit of guts to it so i can do fabrication work from home
I restore classic vehicles and am a fabricator/welder but have also been involved in race engine building, civil engineering and lots of other things
The concensus on here has edged me toward a portamig, so have ordered a portamig 211 from weldequip as i have a big project on my hands.
My beloved 1960 ford thames 400e van got written off in a shunt in september, the woman agreed liability and i have invested the payout into £1400 of panels to return the van to A1 condition
I have another 400E which also needs some work, a 1958 rover p4 and the most modern 4 wheeler is a rubber bumper mgb
There will also be a need for an AC/DC tig set soon as i want to be able to weld aluminium and stainless to repair my motorbikes
The best of which is a Kawasaki ZX10R which i race at club level, a zx9r roadbike, a zx7r,a zx6r, fireblade, bsa bantam
5 kawasaki gt550's, a dt175 and i think i might have some others in lock ups somewhere
So in the next few months i might take a gamble on a becker or similar 220 amp tig set, so berware!
