Hello from South Lake District

Hi peeps.
Looking at getting my own MIG welder for the various projects I'm on with at home from steel motorbike frames to car bodywork.
DIY only although I'll be getting a couple of mates who are pro welders to help. Trouble is they use industrial equipment and have no experience of the DIY/hobby kit out there.
So hopefully you knowledgeable lot can help me out.

Hi Rich, welcome to the forum, have a look through the "buying a welder" section, set yourself a (sensible) budget and go from there. Post up for any advice.

Hello and welcome. I served my time as a welder (in a shipyard probably not far from you!!) There is a difference in that type of welding to using a hobby welder and although I have the skill of hand of a time served welder I still get advice from people on here who are more knowledgeable than me on car bodywork welding and that is the beauty of this site, if you don't know the answer someone on here will.
As for a welder the Clarke's are a good starting point but get one that uses a shielding gas as gasless is a bit coarse for car bodywork.
