Hi, I'm yet another newbie dropping in to say hello. Got a Migmate 170 a couple of weeks ago, and have just made a trolley type thing for it as it's quite heavy. Spent a while welding pieces of scrap together first, using the small co2 cylinder that came with it. Halfway through, the cylinder ran out and I started on a cylinder (another tiny one) of argon/co2, which seemed easier to weld with, but I had to turn the power down (and the wire speed up) to stop it from blowing holes. Does a change of gas usually mean a change of settings?
The trickiest part seems to be the setting up, and once it works, you never want to change the settings at all!
Anyway, a danmed good site, this one. It would have been a different experience altogether if I hadn't been looking in here for a good few weeks before I started off!
When this run of beginners luck stops, and it all starts going wrong, I'll be back here with a load of questions!
