why are you using armoured, it's very unweildy? What length of extension are you looking to make?

SY (aka flexible armoured/ armoured flex) would be better... swa is not designed to be used as a flex & so cannot be PAT tested afaik.

for 64A at reasonable lenght.....say 20m..... 10mm minimum

Hello Paul,

as long as you have 5 core, i.e. 3p + N + E, so you are not relying on the armour for earthing, 10mm sq should do for that length. As pointed out not exactly to regulation, but I'm guessing that it won't be moved very often, i.e. run to a job for the duration? Do inspect\test regularly.

you need some 5 core as the SWA will probability only be 4 core and the armorage will not provide a reliable earth when used in the plug as it will pull out when you try and coil it up. 10mm 5 core rubber flex would be the best stuff to use http://www.drakauk.com/products/flexible-cables/H07RN-F-flexible-cable.php
