Tried to find the the listing for the M8/M7 stud. If you see this Keithmac could you point me in the right direction please.

I bought a small bike (Italijet?), the 7mm exhaust studs were ok but the nuts were missing.
The only place I could find them locally was my friendly bike shop, maybe ask there and see what they have in stock?

The depth is 21mm. However, please don't waste a lot of time thinking about this. It would appear that it will require somebody with equipment not available to me if I decide it's worth fixing.

No thinking required I'd make that stud in half an hour if it was something I needed

I had a problem with an alloy carburettor body. The holes were mostly stripped so the top couldn't be held onto the body. After a lot of thread gauging it turned out the original screws were a bizarre M5x0.75 rather than the standard M5x0.8. Why they used a shallower and non-standard pitch into alloy I don't know. There isn't really enough meat to drill through and use nuts on the back, so in the end I thought the originality was nonsense, put in M5x0.8 helicoils and screwed it down tight. Easy to replace and the hardened threads won't strip now.

My vote is to drill them bigger and thread commensurately, or use a larger helicoil so that the threads aren't going to strip and the thread's one you can buy. Or indeed, make... If you want one made, I'm sure there'll be lots of willing lathe owners to help you out.

I'm usually in Belfast but currently in Brittany. I've found a suitable length M8/M7 stud from a company in Belgium and have ordered two.
