The TE ones have flux in the solder.
Service temp is up to 125degC.
I think the solder melting temp is 160degC

I use a bigger heat gun than the one in the video above with a wrap-round end on it wide enough to cover the whole thing.
With that the ends shrink down first and hold everything in place while it solders up.

Some of the big brand ones can be 50p-£1 each.
The cheaper brands can be about £8 for 500 assorted sizes.

I'm sure some of the ebay ones might be dubious quality but the fact that TE etc. are making and certifying them would suggest that they have been tested and proven.

Would just be nice if I could find a wider range of them..

So presumably it's not much use in hot environments as it can melt again and the connection can be lost. (Granted the heatshrink might hold the wires together some.)

No Idea. It's the only solder I know of, that melts with a hot air gun. there is Woods metal as well, but that is nasty stuff.

Apparently it's a CD18 solder..
A quick look on the net suggests that melts about 180-190
