We have standing instructions NOT to fill the wagons up if we're out for the night, fill up the next morning instead.Fuel theft has been going on a long time - but lads driving about with IBC in the back of vans stealing fuel - will become a normal thing from now - (due to the price of road fuel).
most new trucks have cameras in the wind deflectors to watch down the sides when parked , linked to a solid state recorder ,,, have things really been this bad and we are only starting to take notice now.We have standing instructions NOT to fill the wagons up if we're out for the night, fill up the next morning instead.
My motor has the main tank on the n/s and the "auxiliary", about the size of an enamel edgar, on the o/s, so if I'm overnighting in a lay by I always stuff the n/s into the hedge or tight up to a wall. If any ne'er-do-wells are about they'll have to work damned hard to get any fuel from me.

good grief ,, were not quite at that stage over here in Belfast yet ,,, maybe its the over inflated glue prices in London that have caused the changes ,,,I'm getting less surprised at people huffing NOS balloons at red lights when their driving cars in london, soooo maybe ?

Thought you’d packed in the driving @4String. ?We have standing instructions NOT to fill the wagons up if we're out for the night, fill up the next morning instead.

Being just over a mile from the road and only 1 way in or out through two gates we dont get too many unplanned visitors, when we do I always let the two German Shepherds out to greet them at the gate. All crime prevention is about is moving it on so just the usual - screen the tank from the road, lights, cctv etc etc. you won’t beat them but you might make them move on. A gate wouldn’t hurt either. That lot don’t like being penned in or having their escape route cut off.

Found the amount of "tents" in the city streets of Portland - disturbing.
The sheer volume...
Not got a political comment about it - or any real strong views on the why of it - just did not like watching it!
Not sure I am explaining myself very well...?
I was doing security on a building site just after leaving school and this happened me, 3 guys walked up told me I could take the keys of the gate out of my pocket and hand them over or they'll take them out of my pocket when I'm lying on the floor in a pool of blood, I had to sit there while they loaded up over a ton of rolls of lead and then left, rang the cops when they'd left.Human security like a night watchman is a weak link. “Open the fuel tank or I’ll cut your hands off” changes most folks minds
I know a lad, a very handy sort of lad who got a night watchman job on a site because of his reputation, but all that stood for nothing when 4 nomads in a tipper pulled up and wanted the copper cables. It was a simple do this or we will do that.I was doing security on a building site just after leaving school and this happened me, 3 guys walked up told me I could take the keys of the gate out of my pocket and hand them over or they'll take them out of my pocket when I'm lying on the floor in a pool of blood, I had to sit there while they loaded up over a ton of rolls of lead and then left, rang the cops when they'd left.

And you wouldn’t hear them cutting it?a cage wont work bolt croppers and portable grinders make easy work to get in them
a cage on the roof of a block built unit would be good idea as long as it looks like a building from the ground level
