We have standing instructions NOT to fill the wagons up if we're out for the night, fill up the next morning instead.
My motor has the main tank on the n/s and the "auxiliary", about the size of an enamel edgar
, on the o/s, so if I'm overnighting in a lay by I always stuff the n/s into the hedge or tight up to a wall. I'm getting less surprised at people huffing NOS balloons at red lights when their driving cars in london, soooo maybe ?

good grief ,, were not quite at that stage over here in Belfast yet ,,, maybe its the over inflated glue prices in London that have caused the changes ,,,

I watched this YouTube video start to finish.
Found the amount of "tents" in the city streets of Portland - disturbing.
The sheer volume...
Not got a political comment about it - or any real strong views on the why of it - just did not like watching it!

Being just over a mile from the road and only 1 way in or out through two gates we dont get too many unplanned visitors, when we do I always let the two German Shepherds out to greet them at the gate.
At night we use a rifle torch to see who it is. So does our neighbour. Touch wood not had any real issues so far, though did have one drive off very quickly when the torch was switched on.
Yeah is kinda disturbing.
I think a lot of urban centers all over the world are suffering with similar situations. Small tent cities pop up around my area (central london/westminster) quite often.
The ones in park lane I haven't seen for a while but then I realised they had moved a bit. (also not traveling that way so often at the moment)

I was doing security on a building site just after leaving school and this happened me, 3 guys walked up told me I could take the keys of the gate out of my pocket and hand them over or they'll take them out of my pocket when I'm lying on the floor in a pool of blood, I had to sit there while they loaded up over a ton of rolls of lead and then left, rang the cops when they'd left.
The Caravan Using Nomadic TravellerS I was told round here 2007/8 when fuel was pricey - had got creative to thieve from plastic storage tanks.
They'd slash cut a section of scaffold pipe one end, and weld a cap over the other end, fitted with a tap and a hose fitting.
Then they'd heat the pointy end, then push it through the side of the plastic tank at low level.
The heat melts the plastic and also sealed around the outside of the scaffold pipe.
Once pushed into place - They'd simply open the tap and the fuel would flow out silently into their containers and away.... leaving the poor victim with no fuel and a wrecked tank

As so many on here have said though - they are untouchable and you can't take them on. All you can do is try to make your stuff harder to bother trying to steal than the next guy's stuff

I know a lad, a very handy sort of lad who got a night watchman job on a site because of his reputation, but all that stood for nothing when 4 nomads in a tipper pulled up and wanted the copper cables. It was a simple do this or we will do that.
I done a garage security door for a lad who was worried about the local traveler family getting his new ktm, turns out he owed him 10k in bets, I just said if he wants thease bikes he won’t kick a door in he will get you out of bed and you will load them for him

alternative is a plastic tank within a steel tank
inbetween this is water filled with a stop cock filler mixer and colour bar
if they drill and use it good luck to them as all there getting is water
id rather build a block looking building with mesh roof and have a steel door on it for access

It’s been happening on and off here for a while. A farmer friend got his tank emptied days after he’d had it filled. They didn’t come into the yard with the vehicle, they ran a hose from his tank out to the main road (30 m) and then pumped the oil into a tank on a trailer. Farmer never heard a thing. First they knew was when their boiler switched off. Police weren’t to interested either.

If you think that was bad, go to Detroit and be shocked, I couldn't really grasp the magnitude of it last time I was there, still makes me pause for thought, there but for the grace of god.
I have met and got to know quite a few homeless people over time and with some of them it is just tragic.

Rotate gauge 180 degrees, get sticker made up showing gauge on empty and stick it to the back of the gauge.
