I think concrete (non flammable) gets around the clearances as long as its not sat under the eaves of the house/building?? The regs are silly. Mines too close to a wooden fence. If anything bad happens the fence burns down. Not the house or people or cars or next door etc.

A wall thickness is allowed to count as clearance
My tank is bunded, but in the rear corner of my garden.
It's maybe 400mm behind the block wall of my wee shed, maybe 300mm from the block boundary wall to next doors garden, and maybe 200mm from my back fence (little-used public footpath behind the fence).
So I'm thinking nowhere close to meeting Regs.... but it'd be a royal pain to relocate it.
It's staying where it is unless I'm forced to shift it!

Haha. You are right of course but in my case the biggest risk to my fence is a problem with the oil tank. I own the land both sides of the fence that the tank is close to. So my thought process was kinda the opposite way round to yours!

The rules are only guidelines set out by an independent organisation in the absence of a government department, a bit like Corgi was to gas installations and Hetas with solid fuel, they don’t have any real teeth. Existing installations don’t have to comply to any of it.

My issue was not with the amount of energy the guys pool uses. It’s up to him what he does with his money.Your right..... my olympic size swimming pool uses very little energy
My issue is the twisted reporting that seems to be standard issue journalism these days. Trying to divide and enrage the masses by alluding to the fact that he’s had a grid upgrade to run his pool.
My mate had to pay for a ‘grid upgrade’ because of his new hot tub. The old trafo wouldn’t handle it.
There will undoubtedly be a percentage that read that article that think that UKPN is funding this upgrade. Which was probably also an intended consequence of the way it was written.
No need for all this divisive nonsense imo.
Then again “Rishi Sunak needs three phase so has paid for a new pole transformer outside his house” doesn’t sell papers.

It was not so much (to me) the 13amp plug being changed or who pays for it.... as the vast divide between him and the people he 'represents' as PM. Previosly Chancellor controlling the masses wealth or poverty.
