Heating oil increase this morning

Saw on my Home page this morning the EU has agreed to ban Russian oil save for a trio or so of EU members who are totally land locked & dependent on it.
Petrol is going to go up as a result so is diesel & heating oil.

Checked this morning 09.30 ish with our usual supplier to whom we make monthly standing orders through out the year and it has jumped from 70.23 p per litre six months ago 30 Dec 2021 to 90 p .31 may 2022 . That's a quid a gallon almost

Whilst Alison was having the conversation with the order clerk to place a 600 litre top up at 90p a litre , the depot manager came in the office & said from now on all heating oil is now 94 p a litre and it's going to go up even more .

Happily we got it at 90 p a litre .

Now might be a good time to top up your oil tanks before the next increase if you can afford it and have capacity in your oil tank .

It was higher. I notice petrol has been going up again.

Silly EU, this ban if is only helping Russia. Its pushing the global price up, there are plenty of sane countries that realise the reality.
Do you think the Saudis, or Americans are any better?

At same time, EU doesnt have many LNG ports, but we do. We have an excess of cheap gas being pumped to EU with the pripes at full capacity. However our gas and the cap are priced on long term average, but suppliers are paying the cheap daily rate

March it was up to £1.60 a litre.

during lockdown it was 28p/litre.

To be fair the price has actually changed much in the last 3 months, 94p isn't a sudden rise it's been hovering above/below that for weeks.

I always check the price charts on Boilerjuice.com with the knowledge that phoning your local supplier will be cheaper than their chart.

Prices in Wales are about 6p/L more according to the charts.

It hasn't spiked in England, price today is pretty much what it was 2 months a go.

Oil in recent months is the highest it's ever been but from what I can many people tied to gas are paying as much or more. At this time of year if you are only heating the hot water you don't use very much.

Just got a quote here - 1.70 euros / litre

Usually the highest fuel prices are immediately ahead of the next recession. Not looking good I think

Well whilst prices at the pump are lower than they have been, heating oil is on the way back up. On 9th it was 83p from our supplier and had been dropping slowly over the weeks before.
Today its 98p.
I guess it will not come down again before winter, so might as well bite the bullet whilst it's under a quid a litre?

The one year chart for oil (worldwide, crude), so yes it appears they are taking advantage….
