Heater matrix

I was just seeing if tthis could be workable or even any good.

I have old landrover it has been modified so there is no blower or heater matrix. I am just wanting some hot air tbh. I know there will be obvious pipe work.



So would I be able to fit a matrix in the cab. Would it be any use. ?

What landy is it? Try and find one of the ex mil smiths biscuit tin heaters

The smiths one are not cheap and also ducting has been modified inside dash

i seem to recall volvo heater matrix were a popular upgrade but i could be wrong. either way you're going to have to do some piping so it might be worth biting the bullet and spending a bit

I don't no if I way just kindng myself on tbh and not really thought it though. How much heat would come just through matrix. With no fan.

In and around foot well bulk head as would be me mainly in it. Is where I would like it

Next door neighbour says there was an article in classic land rover about an upgrade any body heard of that?

My father fitted one from a Mini into his IIA, but I suppose there were a lot of self contained heater units about in the early 70's?, the hot water was controlled by a tap on the engine block that he turned off in the summer

Another roadside repair, looks like he was adjusting the tracking?

I put a thread on here a couple of months ago about making a heater for my track car, someone mentioned the small heater units sold by T7 http://www.t7design.co.uk/ were pretty good.
I actually saw a few fitted at the last event I was at and they did look pretty good. I think I would bite the bullet and get one of those over trying to codge in an ancient old mini heater as my mini days remind me their heater are poo.

drill the bulkhead and push the pipes through grommets make a bracket or two stick couple of high flow square computer type fans on it and it will give some heat into the cab and quite cheap.

On a Series 3 the matrix is in a metal housing bolted above the passenger foot well in the engine bay, the fan is mounted behind the grill in the wing. The fans seize but can be revived if taken a part carefully. All can be had reasonably cheaply at the shows.

If you are not worried about originality then Norms suggestion will probably give more heat

that sounds like the extra rear heater from a mini bus.
some LWB jap imports shoguns etc had rear heaters fitted

I think you can fit a Defender fan into a SIII - these give more output.

this will sort the problem, easy to fit on, interchangable to keep various occupants warm

a PC fan stuck to the side of a maxtrix would be cheap and simple. Stick a valve in line so you can throttle/shut off in summer.
