As the only teacher in my department that has ever taught metalworking I'm finding that, at 51 and ten years of it, my hearing is suffering; tinnitus and hearing loss. We all teach woodworking, too, to various degrees; could easily spend half my teaching in a noisy environment. We normally get our hearing and respiratory function checked annually by the council but that hasn't happened in a couple of years since a bat and a pangolin got it on in China; my previous results had shown hearing loss.
I've started using 3M Peltor earmuffs when not talking or teaching and the kids are actually hacking away with files, saws, using hammers and centre punches, etc., but I'm after suggestions and recommendations for are in-ear plugs that don't need inserting and re-inserting, etc., and allow me to hold conversation.
Thanks!
