My uncle did it (Mothers Brother) - I found him - when we were kids - he had a troubled life. Dark cloud used to just come over him. He lived with us - a lot of the time. The day he did it - he just got paid from his new job gardening. His life on the outside was coming together...

...and when the guy off's himself no matter how much you do, the lawyers are all over the employer for not doing enough.
Don't look for it, and don't acknowledge it keeps the lawyers away.

My industry is realising this. A lot of business today is too complex to have throw away employees or even low morale. Hopefully this attitude can spread to all industries and companies.

By training managers and doing regular check ins, providing support to employees that need it, and by creating a working environment that gets the best out of people. My previous employer was able to make this work well for them, in an industry with high attrition, they were able to retain staff and because of that they could deliver projects.

As someone who has had someone blow their brains out in front of him, the biggest problem are the Police, they are hard wired to find a culprit if there is a "victim". Some are good about it but the career lot are hell bent on "investigating".

Friend of mine had his wife of a few weeks cheat on him and it just about destroyed him, but he got over it. Fast forward a few years and his longtime girlfriend cheated on him. He barricaded himself inside his house and sat on his settee and committed hari - kari , stabbed himself in the guts . Lovely bloke too , what a waste. He must have been in a hell of a state to do that.

Unless you evaluate workers daily then there is no way of knowing someones mental state on any given day..I knew a guy who hanged himself over a bailiffs letter for 2K

I can't complain about my last company, in 2020 Mrs Robo was in and out of hospital, sometimes for weeks, the first time it happened I went into work as normal and when our supervisor came round I told him what was going on, he just said "get yourself off home and we'll see you when she's out", this happened a few times over the course of that year and as long as I phoned him to let him know he was happy and as a bonus he booked me as normal shifts including shift pay while I was off
I took a few bottles in for him that Christmas as a thank you.

However, I'll wager you won't find that many places, and certainly not in the lower wages/lower skill jobs.
