D&A screening all the time, the regulator has mental health as one of its priorities, but they aren’t trained to inspect this……..I could see surprise random drug & alcohol testing, but mental health status evaluations every 6 months or so ?
and there are folk that know the score and do it for a living
theres no way to tell what state of mind someones in had a few friends do itI hadn't picked up on the fact the first incident was a suicide. I have to admit that it the days when I was involved in writing risk assessments, I never considered the suicide of an operative as a possibility.
god knows whytheres no way to tell what state of mind someones in had a few friends do itgod knows why
...and when the guy off's himself no matter how much you do, the lawyers are all over the employer for not doing enough.D&A screening all the time, the regulator has mental health as one of its priorities, but they aren’t trained to inspect this……..
My industry is realising this. A lot of business today is too complex to have throw away employees or even low morale. Hopefully this attitude can spread to all industries and companies.Hi, not specific to the aviation industry but generally employers should do if they want an effective workforce.

By training managers and doing regular check ins, providing support to employees that need it, and by creating a working environment that gets the best out of people. My previous employer was able to make this work well for them, in an industry with high attrition, they were able to retain staff and because of that they could deliver projects.Unless you evaluate workers daily then there is no way of knowing someones mental state on any given day.
Not in the construction industry! who pays the mortgage when I'm off having some compassion? That's what compassionate leave is for.

Having unstable workers throwing themselves into running jet engines should hardly be encouraged.

Yes, you have a good boss there.I can't complain about my last company, in 2020 Mrs Robo was in and out of hospital, sometimes for weeks, the first time it happened I went into work as normal and when our supervisor came round I told him what was going on, he just said "get yourself off home and we'll see you when she's out", this happened a few times over the course of that year and as long as I phoned him to let him know he was happy and as a bonus he booked me as normal shifts including shift pay while I was off
I took a few bottles in for him that Christmas as a thank you.
yep go on sick leave and get about 80 quid sick pay a week the 1st week you get nowtNot in the construction industry! who pays the mortgage when I'm off having some compassion?
