Great film of "how things were" in manufacturing. Here's a similar film from the early '30s which appears to have the original Mr. Cholmondley-Warner doing the narration.
Can't help feeling there was a bit more common sense, loads of sparks, lets all stand back a bit
Oddly enough the sparks were mostly harmless, we would walk through showers of them near the casting tracks.

I installed some robots at a well known copper cylinder manufacturer near Manchester (forgotten the name ) in the late 80's, what impressed me the most was spinning copper discs into the dome shape to fit on top of the cylinder, all done on an automated line.
