. I don't have one of those in the shed (yet )
Why not, they are bog standard?
It is a water dispersant. Any other use is a bonus.
I do 2 20 quid from the autojumble or you can get a substitute from from the local oil supplies for 15i buy it 5lts at a time. cheaper still
And this reminds me!
I have a lot of WD40 for sale - 5L - with free shipping. Cheap!
Will list it in the for sale section - mods say it's ok.
Sadly modern toilets are NOT bog standard.
They are often too short.
They block too easily.
Some seem to encourage skid marks
So we really do need a new standard for bogs!
You've really got it in for WD-40 haven't you. It does an okay job of a lot of things, it convenient to have a can around just to wipe tools down, machine aluminium and kill wasps. Cheers for the heads up Jack. What other use does it have that it does efficiently? Most uses are like using a chisel as a screwdriver. Yes it may have an effect, but nothing like the performance of the correct product. Penetrating oil is the most common misuse of it, published data shows that it is little different in performance from using nothing at all yet still the marketing brainwashing encourages people to believe otherwise.
Just using silicon products in the vicinity is enough to cause great problems by the way, no need to spray it near the panel to be painted.
All my gardening tools get a soaking after use. We soak karts and engines with it after a wet race until they can be cleaned. Side pods are sprayed with it to stop tyre burn on contact. It removes masking tape glue, packing tape glue. Polishes plastic. I spray welds to stop them rusting.ive never seen so many get worked up over something so trivial! WD40 has its uses, id never be without it around the workshop, but i also dont expect it to work miracles. Whats the problem? anyone who says they would'nt go near a workshop that has it or wouldnt touch it themselves is up their own back end, or just plain daft. it does what it does, it doesnt what it doesnt. i know id never go out in the rally car without it. many a time its got my car restarted on a wet night
As RichardM says, the only thing i find WD any good for is aluminium machining or cutting. Hate the stuff personally , and its full of silicone too, make painting anything that has had wd on it a nightmare.
He must be confusing it with something else; no silicon/silicone in it according to MSDS:Fibreglass garage doors come up well with it too. Are some getting confused with WD High Performance SILICONE lubricant? A different animal from your standard WD40.
