head protection

hi can anybody help?
i'm after one of these, no not the mask but the hood that velcros onto it. i'm geting rather fed up of getting burned. the one in the photo is from ARCO but they want £95 +vat and delivery for a pack of five, which is a bit steep for a trial run.

has anybody seen these for sale anywhere?

Why don't you get a Kromer?

Most situations a welding cap such as 'Kromer' is more than adequate.

Aslo a lot of people use a baseball cap, myself included most of the time. Just turn it backwards when you want to weld. Most people have an old one kicking about, if not youll be sure to get one for a few quid

I've tried Kromer caps, skull caps, baseball caps and beanies! All no good. the problem is I have a big head, very big (nothing in it though). I have a paraweld mask like a lot of folk on here, it's on maximum adjustment and it's a very tight fit. Some time painfully tight!! So there is no room for anything to go on my head. This is the first product that I have found that might help, and stop me smelling burning flesh!

I had problems before with sparks down me neck when working at an odd angle but more importantly the sun coming in behind my head and casuing a reflection of my face on the glass - not a pretty sight
Also couldn't see what the feck I was welding

So I taped a large clean workshop rag to it, much in the same way as the thingie in the pic up the top.


Probably not very fire safe , but did the job for me! total cost = 5p
