Yes and no, for long runs over 15M ish you need to be converting to HD baseT and running over Cat6 or better and for max length and or security send it over a fibre optic link.Glad you got it sorted.
I'm gonna be contrary, though, and suggest you'd have no problems running HDMI many tens of metres. It's a digital serial protocol running in shielded cable (little different to CAT5 / CAT6, in fact the conductors are typically thicker) so will likely run for hundreds of feet.
