Have question, new to welding, wire balling and melting on itself. help

I have a hobby welder a lincoln 135 i believe. I have been using it for about a month with argon 75 CO25 mix as shielding gas with a 0.6mm wire with no problems. My question is. Everything was running just fine until i got my shielding gas refilled and new wire. Now it seems that when i start to weld.... with the weld clean the wire just starts an arc and melts, balls up on itself. Kind of like its being repelled from the steel. (bouncing off) then falling on the floor.

I dont get it! ANy suggestions?

Sounds like the wire speed is too low, although if it's set to the same speed as worked before then it could be sticking somewhere - maybe too much tension on the reel clamp.

The tip might need replacing if you've had wire melting onto it (tips often need replacing).

Tip was just replaced and wire feed seems to be just fin ... Though ill check again! Thanx for the suggestions...

Are you welding the same mettle as before Cobrarob?

you might want to adjust your wire speed and amperage until you find that nice medium.it isnt always the same.youll just have to play with it for while.

Yeah, wire speed is the most likely cause.

I would also have thought that a 75/25 mix was a bit heavy on the CO2 for use with .6mm wire. I think that's recommended for welding 10mm thickness and above.
