I've just bought myself a Mac Tools anti zap battery surge protector for car welding

I know Mac is a name i can trust as i have a couple of grands worth of mac kit but i have never seen one of these before

I was just wondering if anyone else had seen one

same as the draper unit I've used for years....although yours looks way more industrial ....has been discussed before .think it was during a post wether or not to disconnect a car battery before welding ....never blown any car components up whilst using mine

It was going on ebay for a tenner, way too good an offer to miss, if it was snap on it would have gone for triple the price

the draper looks mickey mouse in comparison,But ...it has an led to show its connected and hopefully working

Hi there,
Yeah, used one for ages, and never had a problem with it so far. Makes a loud(ish) beep when you connect it up, and an led stays on to let you know it's working. I think it makes the same sound when it does "it's thing" too.
Forgotten to use it a few times too, but nothing happened then, either.
I do know someone who thinks the protection is just imaginary, but still likes it to be used when doing any welding on something of his. Hmmm!
