I did a few years ago.
Old leaf spring, heated and bent.

Ground to a dull edge and a wooden handle fitted.

Yes it works, still on the farm and gets used.

Next time, smaller leaf spring.

We have them for quads, mount them on the front and you get plastered in weed killer, mount them on the back and you flatten most of the weeds before they get wiped. Better off with a spraybar.

Yes a weed licker. Already have a sprayer. It costs too much for one spray for rushes and another for thistles or dockens etc. When your near drains etc they can't be sprayed.
