Has anyone bought English wheel components from adam.0000 on eBay?

I've been looking at bench top English wheels as I don't have much space, time to make one or budget. I've been looking at the Metz one that is supposed to need modifying to get it to work but seems to be about £150. If I lived in the states I'd get the Eastwood one but moss want a fortune for it at £390 without the anvil set. Or I wondered how good the adam.0000 wheels are in terms of run out, how concentric they are etc?

Can't help with the question of how good/reliable a Seller he is, but looking at his other auctions you get the same wheel with a full set of anvils for another £50.

If I had a budget of £200-£300 assuming I didn't have a lathe, I would buy a set of hardened wheels and make the frame.
The 200mm dia top is a good size to ride the bumps and would be usable in a stiff frame.

I know you say you don't have time to make one but you must have available time to learn how to use it.

A good E wheel is a great tool but a bendy one is just a door stop.



I made mine from scratch for about £150. Six months later I could use it.

There's a member on here from Aberdeen called Burdekin. He made his own, I beleive he made a few more to sell on. Made a sizeable wheel.

He doesn't come on here much these days, so may not see this thread, I'm sure he won't mind a quick PM to see if he had a set

My 2ps worth is dont buy a set of rollers from a guy called ragusec, not a single one of the rollers ran true and I ended up refacing and boring them out to take larger bearings to true them up.
But, i ended up with this,, 24" throat, just need to learn how to use it now,,

I did have a look at the wheel sets he sells. I could probably get the steel and threaded bar to make a mechanism for about a hundred. Nice wheel Neil what section of box is that and how thick is it? What do you use for the adjuster? I think the guy from Aberdeen bought Hoosier wheels and I'd struggle to hide that bill from the missus.

It's made from 100 x 8 mm box, I've tried it on 1.6 mm steel and it doesn't seem to flex at all.
The adjuster is the top of an old jockey wheel that was in the scrap bin, i only used the handle, bearing screw and nut from it.
The ram is just 2 pieces of box , one inside the other, but with 18 grub screws and locking nuts to keep it to the back of the box,like lathe gibs,but not precision !!
The knob on the side of the top wheel is there as I mounted the top roller shaft on an eccentric, so once i get my pressure right i can move the lever to release the panel without losing how much pressure is on it.
I looked at the hoosier profiles wheels as well,,they are superb, but a bit too much for me.
