Has any one bought straight argon lately ?

My Mate has just had a refill of large argon, now this is from a place we both have used for years and he even knows the 'family' so there is no 'extra' charges etc (or there shouldnt be), he paid £90 and was shocked ?? I dont remember the cost as anywhere near that high. I seem to recall £40 ish but that was awhile ago.
Just thought I would ask, as it might be a little embarrassing for him to complain without some ammo.

Thats likely to be list price for a W cylinder, and if you are not paying rental charges, guess its not going to be possible to contact gas supplier and negotiate a lower price? I am paying £25 for W but with collection charge and other BS works out about £50.

They are the gas supplier, they have bulk tanks and actually fill the cylinders .
Hence why they should be cheaper.

Thats quite costly then. But if you pay no rental probably not that much different to people paying less and having to pay rental charges?

BOC - W cylinder pureshield argon £106.06 + energy surcharge £1.15

plus delivery £63.06 or fixed £17.28 collection charge..

ohh and rental on W is £130.62 per year

no worries, i have current price list here.

as i was looking at boc's gases

but even the hobby deal prices work out dear with the yearly rental

compared to elmdale

All gas prices are very dear, but a couple of months ago I was looking for a less costly way of getting hold of an oxygen cylinder, than renting W industrial size. Thought that the hobby deals might have been cheaper, but as bottles are much smaller and would probably need 2 a year rather than just a single W (only use for heating), there really wasnt enough saving to make the hobby deal worthwhile.

so proberly easiest to price it per 10bar..

BOC Argon rental per year £68.40
Argon per 10bar - £1.73

BOC Argoshield rental per year £47.34
Argon per 10bar £1.44

Elmdale right to use 20L cylinder for 1 year £20.16

Argon per 10bar - £2.36
Argon/Co2 per 10bar - £2.30

so Argon difference is 63p per 10bar dearer with elmdale, BUT £48.24 per year cheaper for rental/right to use.

and Argoshield is 86p per 10bar dearer with elmdale, BUT £27.18 per year cheaper for rental/right to use.
