trouble is for the private punter is 20 percent vat and 15 percent buyers premium so thats 35 percecent on top of hammer price

I was going to have a punt on this a week ago but the bills piled up behind the door put me off...A lot of machine for Machine Mart money.

I would bet that 140 hasnt done a lot of work, it must be an early one as it has the earlier gearbox as fitted to the L5. I have a late metric one in my workshop & it is my favorite machine, very well made & as accurate as the day it left the Harrison works, it still has its original manual & factory test chart plus a load of tooling. No way i would ever sell it.

Agreed, but you just build it into the price you are prepared to bid. I doubt that you could buy one from a dealer (that clean) for much less than £4K +vat
If you get the chance the 36 speed Norton Gearbox on the later, L5a and 140 is a much more versatile machine.+ the L00 headstock nose. A very popular apprectiship training, College, School, some machines with few miles on the clock. Be a few dings in the cross slide from headstock chuck collisions!!!!!!
I`ll stick a pic up of a one I adapted for my 140 as I gave up on Harrison as they regularly hit over £100. And its not often I need a fixed steady.

My 140 will last me out, Ex University,Very low miles, Family say house will be sold with lathe attached- !!!! took some getting into where it is.
