Thanks. But the trial and error fitting of the slide in the cut radius is destined to bore oversize. Thinking of a way to accurately measure either depth to remove or thickness remaining has me stumped.... DTI on the back of the tailstock slide and transfer this measurement to the tooltip perhaps.
Like I say, at least I have the slightly overbored one to reference now and there's a bit of play with the 1" bar in its hole so some errors can be absorbed
