You're asking a lot of a motor to double your speed with a VFD. Put a bigger pulley on. I think you'll find new motors of TEC and the like will do %200 but with a duty cycle.
Top speed is 750rpm but the idea was to use the inverter to double it. I'll see how I get on with the original, I can always up the motor spec later if needed.
Generally the slower the speed the lower the motor rating. Schools, training etc had smaller motors and while I've no idea of the speeds/HP for the 140 there is some info on the L5I would ask the question” Why was the 2 HP motor fitted to the 1400rpm machines?” The 1.5HP motor might struggle, particularly starting at maximum speed (especially when cold or with a large workpiece)? I don’t know the answer - but if you have plenty of choices, I expect you will work it out.
Only 4% difference to 1:1, so fairly insignificant in the choice of rpms or pulley size selection?
