I got it from a tool dealer at ruffoth autojumble .he regretted selling it to me as punters were making him higher offers and id already payed for it then went looking for more bargains. I probably waited 4 years before the right one came along. was in no rush as I have a myford and access to a larger latheDone. I’ll collect next week

Yes this is definitely true. Am running out of that for sureYou can't have too much stuff, only too little space.
I will probably take the jaws right out, would that be better?Wind the jaws right off and give it a good dowse down with some kind of penetrating lubricant.
Stand to one side when you spin the lathe up.
Yeah that's what I mean. The chuck should come off that taper quite handily though and they aren't hard to strip and re-assemble.
Pics are a bit grainy but the ways don't look in too shabby a shape. The cross-slide ways look a little scored and the main bed looks like it might have a small ridge up near the chuck. Nothing that makes it a write-off.
You wouldn’t believe the dirt in the compound and the cross slide. Like 3mm thick black sludge.
Some serious gouges. Never going to be a precision machine but should do me for every now and again.

You're right there mate.any lathe is better than no lathe. the whole of british engineering survived on worn out machine tools
They are called a dog nose grub screw. EBay has lots of emRight I need some spares. Anyone know what thread form the ½” nuts on the compound slide (to loosen it to swivel) are. I know they’re 5/16”-18TPI.
Also need four of the grab screws with a little nose that tighten up against the gib strip on the compound slide.
Again don’t know the thread form but they’re ¼”-20TPI.
