Got the inlaws round for the day so i cant go out and get greasy or anything but cant get into any conversation inside as i have nothing in common with any of them. Suggest a subject of discussion for all like minded souls here please.

Im bored too. I don't know what is worse though, having the in-laws round or having this chest infection which kept me in bed for most of xmas day. Nowt much I can do today, not even able to spend time in the man cave. I think I'll sit down and watch Lord of the Rings DVD.

Bring your in-laws round here, Ill share my infection with them

With you there, except my inlaws hardly ever set foot in this house instead we have to visit them in their Eaton Sq. abode
After a while the small talk starts to slip into Latin, just the odd word here and there but enough to pee of a comprehensive oik like me.

Anyway she who must be obeyed tells me it's a trip to the sales this afternoon.

I wouldn't really say I'm bored ,just twitchy to get back to work because A: I'm not making any money sat in doors and B: I have a heck of a lot to do and it's not going to fabricate itself .

SALES Now that would just about finish me off if we had to do that as well. Unless it was at Machine Mart or somewhere.

i was board so went log splitting. thats cheered my up no end and now i have a trailer full of wood to nicely stack so that another couple of hours work to do.

There is really something satisfying about spending an hour or two getting aggression out splitting up wood for the fire - I love it !

Except of course when our stocks are running low and i have to go out in the rain to the logstore to get more supplies !!

Took mums doggy for a long walk up the woods , lovely, wellies on , wet proofs had a grand time !

We've been at the in laws this last couple of days. Very well looked after. Did 15 miles on the new bike yesterday with Mrs Franv8, then decided I'd go KOM hunting on Stava today, pleased as I had a good workout and this bike flies, even on the road.

Sadly man cave action hasn't happened yet, looking forward to it though, got some welding to do on a frame for the last piece of the TIG cooler, but it's finished enough for me to finally do that with the water cooled torch I got three months ago...

At the stables for a few hours today, had to replace a few lengths of siding that half a ton of horse had damaged pulling a tie ring out. Found the shiplap I'd bought was about 10mm too wide so ended up sawing strips off the 2 metre lengths by hand decided it was a good excuse to invest in a small table saw using my MM vat free voucher

I was working today. Can't stand the idea of watching tele all day, can't really afford to be off anyway, I'm pretty sure they'll be some customers on the phone tomorrow! Its also a great way to miss the inlaws!

Go out the room come back in with a greasy runny egg banjo in your mitt , a half full bottle of whiskey in the other , don't for get to be dressed in just you best grey baggy y fronts , then noisly but calmly break wind as you go and sit betwen them so they can notice the egg dripping down your chin and bare chest. grab hold of the sky control and flick onto babe station three or similar .

For several years now i apply a self imposed ban on messing about with cars or doing anything workshop related over the two xmas days, suits me fine as i'm more than happy spending it with the mrs and daughter...and a few beers
Business as usual tomorrow,
Got the last couple of hours of welding on this car i built a while back before it goes off for paintwork.

Iv'e locked my front gate & shut myself off from the cruel world to do some fab work on my harley bobber project,now my shielding gas has run out,so I am relegated to cutting & grinding work.
Heres a pic of where I was up to last week,with my daughter trying to claim the bike as her own.
