Handrails for stairs

Hi everyone!
Have started to do some handrails to help a guy out!
Fixing some damaged bits and also fabricated some from scratch.
Got the hang of measuring up and fabricating simple straight handrail sections , but saw these in the photo and thought how would you go around measuring up something like this to fabricate back at the shop?
Or would most of you just fabricate this stuff on site?

Most stuff I do needs galvanising , so needs to be sent away which makes it a littler harder to just weld up on site.

Any marking out / fabrication measuring tips would be greatly appreciated, or dose anyone know of a good hand book for this sort of stuff ? For measuring stair cases & handrails ect?

A lot depends on budget.

For something tricky, you might do a dry fit up on site, then send away for galvanising, then do final assembly.

For what you show, you could have a standard post and set them first. Once the posts are in and solid, you can then go back and measure the rails.

The connection between post and rail would need some thinking about as it needs to accommodate quite a varying angle range (rotation in plan and both incoming and outgoing vertical slope). Looking at Key Clamp fittings might give you some ideas but the highly varying angles shown is quite a challenge.

A two piece, round post where the top section that connects to the rail is movable on the piece concreted into the ground might also help.

That would deffo be a site job. Make up the posts and rails seperate as far as possible and do all the fiddly end scrolls in the workshop, then fit it up on site.

As @Welderpaul says do as much as possible in the workshop and be prepared for finishing on site, I’ve done a few like the your photos. I’ve tried taking lots of measurements first but have always needed to tweak things as installation progresses, but I’m not a pro. @nickk may be able to offer better advice.

The first pic from the OP is almost of one I did near Royan. From garden down to the beach. I measured with a standard size upright and wooden batterns for the rail, bending a bit of 6mm rod for each junction to get the angles right + sketches The steps were very uneven and rough stone, like that.
