handrail heights for public places

hi

does anybody know what the min and max handrail heights are for public places?

i was thinking 950mm-1100mm. this is what i usually work on but cant find any info about this on french sites.

be gratefull if someone could help

No idea in France, but the UK its generally 1100, and 900 on stairs. (min)

gives me something to work with. Re-doing all the rails for a pub as they have failed on rust and height!!!

if they have failed an inspection then you could ask or get the pub landlord to ask the inspector what the ideal height should be.

From the Building Regulation approved docs, top of stair handrail to be min 900, max 1000 above string line of the stair, anywhere it forms guarding i.e landings, balconies, balustrades, to be 1100mm above finished floor level.
Handrail diameter to be between 40 and 45mm.

Had a drawing from an Architect before xmas showing handrail heights on a stair at 1100 high. You'd think they would know better...

Swimming pool fences in France have to be 1.1 m high, the standards folk over here are "Afnor" if that helps

Why is there a maximum height?

The min and max heights set it to a comfortable average height for the majority of users.
