Most solvents work. I think they say use it beceause some people will try and use white spirit, that makes a sticky mess
I've found modern Hammerite very brittle and it chips far too easily for that sort of application. I've successfully used Hammerite Stonechip, which is a flexible coating that you then paint over with normal paint so it can be exactly the same colour as the rest of the car. Similar to what many modern cars have underneath and on the underside of doors, etc.I was thinking of painting all the floor pans in something tough after all the welding is done.

I haven't seen any, although the clear lacquer I use (U-Pol) is intended to be sprayed without thinning. If you're talking about Hammerite, I think it says on the tin how much to thin for spraying. Other paints suitable for spraying will say on the datasheet how to thin them.Can you buy pre-mixed paints for spray guns
