Bit of a kufuffle. I have been painting the inside of my A35. The new floor had some etch primer on it which was applied october/november last year to see it through the winter. There was some surface rust showing through it, so I sanded the areas back to bare metal. Other original areas of the body had some small pitting, so I put on some of that brush on Hammerite Rust Beater stuff over them. After that was dryed, I then etched primed the bare metal areas, and then went over the lot with satin black. The primer and the spray paint were both rattle can jobs. As you can guess (although I didn't!), not all, but a fair bit of the Hammerited areas have reacted and cracked/bubbled.
I am told this is because the spray paint was over the Hammerite, and is the Hammerite was over the paint, then it won't react. To test this, I tried it on a test peice, and it is true! I planned to sand off the reacted areas and Hammerite normal black over them, but that would mean an obvious differance in surface texture. So, the other option, which I wouldn't mind doing at all, is just going over all the sprayed inside with satin black brush Hammerite. Would this be OK?
