Halfords screwdrivers

Ive got pretty all the shapes they makes never let me down, as per normal i bought a vde set which i tend to buy a new set yearly beat my wera and wiha sets, which makes me wonder who makes them i want a hex screwdriver set but halfords dont sell a set.


So does anyone know who makes them?

I've got a set of Snap On handled ball end hex that I bought when they were on special last year. They are nice and go from 2-10mm but you wouldn't want to be paying normal list price on them.

I really wish you'd never asked this question. I have a set in my van that I've owned for nearly 30 years but can't remember the name and the writing has worn off the handle, it's really bugging me now, no doubt at 3 o-clock in the morning I'll sit bolt upright in bed having thought of it.
Anyway, the set I'm on about have just one handle with a metal insert to take 6mm hex and each bit is about 200mm long so non of this struggling to get into tight spaces as with those that take the short bits, in the other end of the handle is a 1/4" square hole to take a little tee bar if you need that bit more grunt.
The big advantage for me is that having just one handle they take up very little room and all (used to) fit nicely into a relatively compact leather case which I've typically lost.
Best set I've come across, for me anyway.
Possibly wondering off topic a bit but hey ho, I hate the tee bar type.
Just seen the fixed screwdriver bit so I'll shut up.

Long time ago i bought a set o Sykes Pickavant screwdrivers, the best screwdrivers i ever had...i lost them over the years but i might still have a few i used as chisels and prybars...they were really strong. Grey and black handles, teng tools used to do a similar design but poor quality ! Blades on them screwdrivers was crome molibdenum steel, tough as hell...

Their socket sets are really excellent...given them lots of abuse.

Lidl had them last year for about £6 The blade was hex and went right through so you can hit them
I have a set of these at work, hex and hammer through.

I like my King Dick screwdrivers. They'll be rebranded, but they've lasted really well.
I also like Kennedy pro-torq, their big flathead screwdrivers make awesome prybars/makeshift chisels and the handles are really grippy and long lasting.

Facom are nice but overpriced.
Stanley/expert are horrible.
I got a couple of Klein VDE screwdrivers a month or two back but broke the PZ1 on 2nd use shame because they're ultra grippy and well made. I still haven't returned it yet. Bit overpriced at 12-14 quid each.

I need a new VDE PZ1 and a 4mm flat, I think I'll be getting KD again.

You would obviously put it in a 1.5V power screwdriver. I am sure someone will have done it on You Tube for their Cheep Chinese Mini Lathe channel but they probably talk in a mono tone and you will have fallen asleep before the end of the video so will never know if it worked or not.
