Half price Hitachi grinder

that depends on what u are using it for .no point in using my 5 and a half inch makita or the 7 inch one or even the 9 iinch when your only slicing and grinding thin metal

Good point, might buy a few of these then. Not much more than a half decent bottle of fizz.

That would explain why my discs last so long.

But seriously, I've never needed more power from it. The 9" didn't miss a beat cutting through train track either which has got to be about 6 or 7 square inches CSA of manganese steel. Including putting out fires, it did take the better part of three hours though.

Sadly, it seems it was possible to buy both the 9" and 4 1/2 inch versions separately for £75.

However the big one's out of stock and seems to have been replaced by the same mahicne at twice the price with a 'free cutting disk'.

Just ordered one as I currently only have the one and am getting fed up swapping discs.

I notice it's not really "half price" as such as the £50 one has a case and comes with a diamond blade, but seeing as I'm not bothered about either of those it's still a good price! Thanks!

Ordered mine and picking it up tomorrow. I was in BOC today and they had them in and the lowest price he would do it for was £40. So the screwfix price is very good. Thanks for the heads up.

Gave both of mine a light run in sanding some steel tube this afternoon, quite pleased with them. Like the little stand off on the top to lay it down on it's back but not a fan of the guard as it has two clamping screws. I am sceptical they are made for the box shifters with a Hitachi badge but they both run smooth unlike the Argos/Homebase one I bought for £18 specifically for the short case length to do a specific job that vibrates like buggery. The case length looks similar but call me sceptical, I expect to find a similar unit in a different colour cheaper elsewhere at a later date!

They've got to be better than the Stanley Fatmax grinder I had last week that didn't last an afternoon before stripping its gears (worst grinder I've ever had),or the green Bosch grinder I had before that that lasted a couple of months before stripping its gears.
I bought 2 of these Hitachi grinders and they do seem like a quality grinder - I'm thinking that the "professional" label willl mean the gears aren't pressed out of cheese.
