Half full bottle from BOC??

Got another 6kg 2l bottle of Argoshield light from BOC on Friday. I should have been more aggressive in the yard but when I queried as to why the bottle had a broken seal the fella told me it was 'definitely a full bottle'.

Yesterday I connected my regulator and it shows just over 100psi whilst the last i'm fairly sure showed just over 200.

Worried that I don't really have a leg to stand on with the seal but just wondered if any of you folks have had dealings with BOC under these sorts of circumstances and whether it got sorted out?

Check the stated bottle pressure and take it back with your regulator to show the guy who gave it to you. Be polite and stand your ground, don't let them do any paperwork as you will get charged again.

if i ever got any bottles i took the plastic cap off and spit in the orifice if it bubbled i got another that didnt leak

I do of course mean bar not psi! I am still rubbish at sounding like I know what I am doing...

Some good advice there as always cheers chaps. Day off today so I might go and try my luck at the yard this afternoon. Never even thought about the possibility of a leak.

Itching to get back on the welding again after I hopefully address some of the backlog of gardening jobs I promised to do for people this morning!

Like Brightspark said always best to check bottle, I had a W bottle with a cracked reg seat that leaked no matter what you did, they didn't want to change it but did in the end.

Is it worth taking your regulator and putting on to check there and then ?

Collected a size y argoshield bottle and connected the regulator and it only had 10bar,
called boc who obviously said you'll have to return it for exchange,
said i couldn't get it back to them as i was working long days,
they delived a replacement to where i was working a couple of days later,
See, at last a good report on boc! this was a while back though.

Stand your ground guys and insist on getting them swapped otherwise the issue will never get resolved

In the winter?
The same bottle will show a lower pressure when cold than warm,

We run a lot of nitrous at the track and to increase bottle pressure (bar) we simply heat the bottle and monitor the pressure with a bottle mounted guage.

No time to go in today now but described the issue to them on the phone and sounds like they are going to be obliging and do a free swap. Back at work tomorrow so shall pop in at lunchtime, this time with reg. Will let you know how I get on...

From BOC 230 bar and its a 20l I have

there soposed to be filled to 230 bar at 15 degrees C

if it fecking cold they read a littel less , if they've been cooking in the sun they read a bit more

this happened to me.. i rang BOC straight away when i got home with the bottle and it was totally empty... they happily gave me a replacement no hastle

Gas cyls and temperature

I was in Rhodes Greece a couple of years ago and was p****d off with the noise of the pool 'music' and screaming kids but worst of all the wifes moanin ( not the sexual kind) so I was having a walk in the gardens of the hotel but to the side of the hotel where nobody went loverly and quiet,AH, just the sound of the insects and it was HOT HOT HOT and I was miles away (literaly) strolling past the rear enterance to the bar and was alongside a black CO2 that was leaning against a white wall it had been cooking all day when it let go its relief valve I nearly S**T myself, what with the sound and all the dust etc etc about 5ft away. it wasnt just a quick blast it just kept on and on !!, I have had bottles go before in work still a shock but you you know what you are dealing with. I was on holiday and the furthest thing on my mind was gas cyls, it was a good thing I was just wearing swimshorts coz they needed a rinse through afterwards !
