Its a hybrid drive - I've got one in my pc at work and it doesn't appear to make it any faster, next time I'll use a normal SSD plus a normal drive for storage. As well as that SSD's apparently don't last as long as normal drives so if the SSD side of the hybrid drive fails you'll probably lose that disk, not the end of the world in a NAS using Raid but still a disk that needs replaced sharpish.
Why not just get something like http://www.ebuyer.com/390986-wd-red-3tb-3-5-sata-nas-hard-drive-wd30efrx - its 3Tb instead of 2Tb, £10 cheaper than then one in you link and designed to run 24/7 in a NAS

Howver, bear in mind that Ebuyer seem to have their own version of Sale of Goods Act, which they think supercedes the law. Add to that their penchant for premium rate telephone numbers and you have a few points to consider before deciding where to buy from.

Maybe he means start building a NAS?
I use 2 drives running in RAID 1 so if one falls over I just replace it and it recovers itself.
I've used Ebuyer a few times without any problems, even when returning items under warranty.
This was my main reason for the question. What drives are reliable etc. I had not come across a hybrid design before.
I think I will grab a couple of those WD and use Raid 1.
I have a boat load of 250 meg drives that sell for reasonable prices dud to large discs not running in older PC's that I need to move data from and then cull the crap.
Once I have found a half decent courier I am going to shift the rest of the bolts I was passing on to members as I think everyone who needs some has got enough. This should pay for my NAS drives etc.
It stands for network attached storage. It means your Data is stored on drives in their own box rather that it being on every Pc/ laptop you own use. It does hAve limitations. Such as when I go away I would have to download everything via mobile network which soon eats into my data allowance....but it does mean everything is accessible from other laptops/computers whenever I have a wifi/mobile data connection.
Ands it's a cheaper way of running without raid in every pC/ laptop..

WD NAS or enterprise drives (3-5year warranty) if you want the backup, though to be honest I can remember the last HDD failure i had... it was before 1tb disks existed

We built a raid6 from 4TB WD reds (8 of them) for our Archive. It turns out we appeared to have a bad batch of them and most have been replaced. the replacements have been fine though.
Are you using a NAS box or building your own? If you are building your own then you really want to install freeNAS on a pen drive and boot from that. RAID5 is not reccomended any longer, due to the size of the disks and error rates and RAID6 or 10 sould be considdered a minimun now. We used RAID6 (N+2)

Do you really need SSD for a NAS? surely normal drives are quick enough, but use a SSD for main boot drive in a raid to save losing everything if one dies.

Everyone I know with a gaming PC say WD hard drives are unreliable, they swear by Seagate however.

IME there is little real difference with the big players, everyone has a bad batch on occasion, sometimes a "duff" product (ie a particular size/configuration is less reliable than it might be ) but in reality nothing to choose between them except price in "standard" drives.
For archive/NAS i would go WD enterprise by choice, NAs if I could not afford and desktop if I had too, once running raid 5/6/10, i would not lose any sleep over it
