Attended hospital yesterday for a Cataract Assessment. This has been on the cards for some time and had reached the point where things needed to be fixed. Cataract growth in both eyes has been getting worse, due I'm told to long-term steroid use - no, not this kind!
The kind used in conjunction with chemo 'wonder drug' to help it work better.
Surgeon agreed to do one [i.e. 'good'] eye first, then the other which has limited functionality. There's no way they're going to fix it fully, but hopefully they'll be able to restore at least my peripheral vision to what it used to be.....#fingers crossed. Doc had an interesting throw-away line...."Did you know you have a bit of metal in your left eye?" Me: "No" Her: "Looks like steel, and it's been there for a while".......who knew?
I know many folk who have had the procedure [in fact, Sis in Oz is having her 2nd op today] and all report great results. I'm aware that there are risks involved as with any procedure, but the alternative is too awful to contemplate.....
I'm looking forward to being able to sing "I can see clearly now the rain fog has gone".....
Playing the waiting game now but it's been mentioned that in cases like mine, where the patient only has one + a bit eyes, an effort is made to speed up the timetable. Here's hoping......

On the downside, you'll be able to see Aardvark's images clearly if you follow any of his links.
