totaly gutted . today snapped a high speed blade at work it was a bit worn but still servicable .its the 1st ive snapped in over 2 years . i normally wear them out . i do have a hundred spare ones that i bought years ago at bootsales for 20 pence each its not the point though , just been careless

If it has only snapped and not shattered then use the broken bits in an airsaw

I feel the same way when i snap a pencil by standing on it

i grind the teeth of them and use them for packing under lathe tools

When I changed from being a fitter to being a firefighter, I "stocked up" on hacksaw blades and coppaslip! I thought I'd calculated it right but after 23 years I had to buy hacksaw blades and another tub of coppaslip at 26 years. It broke my heart buying both! I figure my tub of coppaslip should see me out, but may need more blades.
Its strange measuring life expectancy in coppaslip and blades!!!

my mate came round one day to do his exhaust and snapped 3 in a row mine of course. err i hope your going to replace them and gave him some crappy carbon steel ones i nicked from college

I've always preferred the HSS allhard for workshop use with a good solid vice, but bimetal all the way for awkward stuff or for site work. The allhard provide much more useful bits, once they are no longer useful as hacksaw blades.

I did the same 'stock up' of hacksaw blades about 30 years ago and still have a healthy stock. The same cannot be said of m3 taps and 2 part epoxy !

I got “paid” for doing a job 40 years ago with a box of 100 Eclipse hacksaw blades , I’ve only had to buy some last year

I agree, all hard seem to keep to a line better. Worn ones make great knives if some masking tape is used for a handle.

Brake it, same as joining a bandsaw blade.

Did the same on sunday - ift was only after I fitted the new one, I remembered how well a hacksaw can cut with working teeth on the blade

I snapped a hacksaw blade back in 1968, but to be fair I think someone had used it before me and cracked it.

Liberate or beg a pad saw.
Then you can use the blade again. Plus have spare.
Then when it blunt, turn it into a fine scraper.
Then a scribe.
Then lathe packing.
Then add it to the scrap pile.

Much more life left in it.
