I thought I would share a couple of ideas that I use:

1. Use cable ties the opposite way round to keep power tool cable tidy & the cable ties remain reusable!
2. Cable tie angle grinder spanner to angle grinder power cord (Never loose it!)
3. Use offcuts of rubber hose when clamping stuff in the vice when you don't have any soft jaws
4. Use sewing seam ripper to strip back wiring harnesses

Anyone else got any handy tips/ideas?

Quick clamps are always helpful, When you need an extra pair of hands

I used cotton wool to the same effect. Worked well and easy to remove too.

I've tried that, but wound up with fibres stuck to the paint (and data centres have freebie dispensers outside the equipment halls, bloody noisy in there...)

Sacrificial pigeon sh17 plate for the MIG......


Keeps the mess in one place and you don't ruin your earth clamp. Also you don't need wire cutters near by to cut the wire down after accidentally pressing the trigger.
Quick squirt to test gas flow and set wire to right stick out.

Tacking a small tab onto your work piece when you're unable to get a ground.

Using a piece of heavy gauge power wire also good when clamping is difficult.

Put a counter sink in the chuck to guide while tapping

Three plates with notched corners, of together and you have a 3D fixture.
Can access both outside and inside for tacking.

And also put on your wire before goes through wire feeder to stop dust going through liner!

Use band of rope and choke the cables if you know what I mean and hang on hooks, but cable ties backwards is good idea!

When using PTFE around a thread that’s tight against a wall, wrap tape around end of pencil then apply to fitting, surprising how many plumbers I’ve had to show that!

Wrap paint brushes in cling film to save washing them out overnight!

I have entered the world of 3d printing so why not do something for the workshop while learning how to use it.

Made some cable clips to attach power cord to vacuum hose. I move the hose between different machines so a clip is easier to handle than duct tape

These are nylon prints, damn that stuff is flexible. Can pinch the ends together and it springs right back

similar to post 9 I have a piece of plate bolted to my earth return on the electric welder . u can strike the ark up on that and transfer to the job without getting spatter at the start of the weld

Keep a diamond sharpening stone handy, you can sharpen a Stanley knife blade quicker than replacing it, whilst still in the knife, and the blades last forever that way.
