Yes, you are absolutely correct, as it was all my own doing, and by my own free will.

This is the problem with scams. They are so easy to fall into, even for the most careful person.

I know I was very lucky to get the money back. Some people are scammed out of vast sums, and this is one of the problems I have with AI and they way it can and will be used. It will be you versus the machine, and the machine will win every time.

Nah it wont, calm yourself, it'll sound plausible at first, then make up some bullcrap that blows its cover. Just like it does in every other situation. AI is just a stoichastic parrot regurgitating public text.
I was involved with some researchers who were doing offensive research on AI and LLM's, and we were jailbreaking it and having it recite hitler as a good guy etc and also teaching it new incorrect information (poisoning its learning data) for adverserial purposes like will happen in the real world, then our C-suite came into the conversation and told us to be quiet and leave all AI related stuff to the AI team.
Later we find out that the company was going AI powered as a new direction, and even more recently we found the head of AI has been moved on because he failed to replace researchers with AI like he promised was possible.
And that's how I see "AI", its just the new crypto scam and a lot of middle and upper management has fell for the snake oil because they had this dream of sacking all the knowledge based workers and researchers and delivering a product with no labour costs.

ukracer, I think my point was being lost a bit, but to put it sucinctly as soon as you run someone elses code on your website, you are giving them the keys to it. The scam might not have been to ask you for money, that's just a supplemental bonus, but the original scam might have been asking for access to websites to do SEO to gain access.

Well yes but millions of businesses have websites written by other people.
I appreciate that until I am 100% it's not a hacked replying to me it's not at all safe.

This guy actually lives local to me so to solve a strange situation I plan to meet him.
