GYS Industrial MIG Range - MAGYS 350

Just a quick mail from Switzerland where I would like to purchase the MAGYS 350 from GYS. Any one can give me any feedback on this equipment?

This a very friendly forum, A brief introduction would be nice, tell us a little of what you have done and maybe intend to do. I'm sure somebody will be along shortly that is familiar with the machine you are asking about.

Hi there, weldingthierry,
The info taken from the data-sheet on the link you posted, says the minimum it goes down to is 40A, so might be quite tricky on very thin (car bodywork) type thicknesses.
Other than that, I should leave the rest to someone with experience of that machine, or any other GYS product, as I've not used any of them.
There are quite a few threads on here that mention GYS, but none that mention this particular machine, (or I just can't find the right one) but just in case, heres a list of GYS threads from this forum.

It does seem to have quite a good duty-cycle - 50% at full power.

Just saw your reply on another thread - you've obviously seen a few GYS reviews, already - so feel free to ignore the link I gave above.
The big question with GYS, used to be wether they were actually made in France, as I remember, but that was a while ago, when it seemed that lots of returns were being sold in bulk on e-bay. I've not seen the same adverts for a long time, now - so I would guess that some of the doubt has been resolved.
Just as Gordon says above, someone will be along who has experience of the brand, and will add their opinion, too.

Sorry not to have introduced myself, I am working for a dealer that sells farming machinery. As we do a bit of repair on these machinery, the product will be to complement an old single phase MIG (Güde) and a GYSMI 161 (great machine but seems to have been replaced by the GYSMI 160P). Also saw on GYS website that they had a nice inverter single phase (Pearl), anyone can give me feedback on this one too?

Regarding the Made in France, I heard welder were made in France and GYS had one of the largest welding factories in Europe. There is a film that gives a visit of the factory on the website.

As there have been a number of comments on the origin of GYS machines we would like to post some factual information on our industrial group which we hope is helpful.

GYS engineers, designs and sells three families of products: arc welding equipment, car body repair equipment and automotive battery service equipment. As of 2011, the group has 460 employees in four locations (France, Germany, UK & China) and in 2010 achieved a consolidated turnover of 56M€. With 360 employees in France, our very modern 18 000m2 factory in Laval manufactures 100% of our professional welding machines and in 2010 the group manufactured more than 350 000 machines in total. GYS also operates a wholly owned factory in Shanghai which employs 60 people and focuses on the manufacturing of jumper cables and low cost consumer battery chargers. To support these two factories, GYS has built over time a network of 300+ importers around the world as well as two international sales subsidiaries in Germany and in the UK. Created 7 years ago, the German subsidiary now employs 36 people and created 2 years ago, the UK subsidiary now has a staff of 10.
