Not had one rust yet and I live and work in soggy Argyll! The synthetic stock won't be affected by changes in temp like a wooden one will.

Plastic is just as bad if not worse for temperature induced changes but fine with moisture
True composite like the mc Millan is as goo
d as it gets.
Yes it gets wet up there and there is also a lack of bore scopes and the technival belief that the next round through cleans the barrel - same as most areas really
But even austenitic will rust once contaminated and left wet in a cabinet
I bet you have seen corrosion on stainless knives right?

Kent our rifles get checked on a very regular basis by a competent rifle smith. I only need know of the results in our district, none and I do mean none of our SS barrelled rifles have had rust in the barrel. Wear yes,due to high round counts. None of the stocks have ever had comments about being warped or bent. My rifle gets cleaned every week regardless if it's fired a shot or not. Others don't have such a regimented regime on cleaning and their rifles get a clean bill of health too. Our rifles go from 700's, T3's and Sako 85, I suspect the quality of the SS is better than you think.

I have used stainless and cr moly imo the main difference between the two is cr moly will command more respect and care as it shows mistreatment quicker.
Proper care is the key not leaving them in lofts not getting water into the chamber or bore. Removing moderators in storage
Stainless gets contaminated and rifle barrel stainless will corrode trust me I have seen it. Leave it wet or in high humidity I'm storage and it will occur. In and out vehicles can also need greater care warm to cold.
Plastic stocks don't distort but they do move. Pillar bedding is near impossible to do well. It should not be classed with composite or even well made laminate.
I rusted the bore of my Tika 595 stainless it was likewise my working rifle feed ramp and end of the chamber - it polished out with minimum damage and a sold it a year or two later with the buyer testing it first. It shot only deer with the normal zero checks in 7-08 Rem 140 grain Sierra gamekings

The stainless used in firearms is usually one of the 400 series stainless steels. It is rust resistant but not completely rust proof like the austinitic 300 series s/s.

And there would be no point using austenitic because it would be contaminated by various other metals in weeks

Miroku were building the cheaper brownings for years, being japanese they were very good kit.

Take a look at a Winny 101 some even have made in Japan on barrels.
Many parts interchangeable, used to look forward to an easy simple job banging out 10-20 kickers at a time for the trade no one else did them and could be waiting years off Browning. Your Deeleys straight forward 3 things can go wrong.

Rudi that's the problem codging things up by brazing or welding, no substitute new part/s.
Ejector and lock work was a speciality being 1 of 2 worldwide, done them for anyone who was anyone in the trade.

The fault in dad’s old Hinton involved a (sliding?) component that had worn away, and the repair man showed us where it had previously been built up by brazing. He said the best he could do was build it up again with more brazing, because it would be very expensive to have a new part made. It seems rather obvious that if the original steel had worn away, something built up with bronze was not going to last very long. I wonder why he (and the person who attempted the previous repair) did not cut away a bit more metal and braze a piece of steel in place.

I looked through illustrations in the books by Crudgington & Baker, but could not see any ejector work resembling what I remember of that Hinton. The ejectors were tripped by rocking components projecting from the knuckle, alongside the cocking dogs but smaller.

This chap who did this botched repair was not a full time gunsmith. His main occupation, which could be guessed at as soon as he breathed in your direction, was running a pub.

Most gun action parts can be made quicker than they can be found ordered and delivered - if you have the required skills and tools
In my own Experiance I am not RFD but have done many for myself and favours

The steel would have broke off where welded or brazed, plus hardly takes any longer to do it properly. Part would have been dear granted but paying for a botch job twice is money wasted and still a scrap gun, used to see it all the time they learn their lesson eventually!
Could have worn but doubt it, more likely some budding specialist filed off in wrong area to time it. Can be looking at microns to time each side.
