Does anyone know if Clarke do replacements, a (very) quick scan of google and nothing jumped out. Or is there a suitable alternative - outer sheath of a liner for example?
Have you tried a short bit of curtain wire? It’s the same size as the liner & has been used as it often. It doesn’t need anything very technical, as it’s only to line the wire up.
Curtain wire works well, I used it in my sealey welder, but should do the same job in a clarke ?
I found that stripping the white covering from the ends of the curtain wire & using electrical shrink tube gave it the correct diameter !
Hey Andy you of all people should know you can never have enough curtain wire if you dabble with welders. I bought 15meters about six months ago and now I only have left........well....... 15meters but at least I'll never run out!
I've also found the inside ink tube from a ballpoint pen fits nicely in some welders as a guide tube.
Just bought a Clarke 150 from the 'bay and got a Smashweld (Snapon) 170 coming this week so I'm all set for a while. Both are basically rusty tin on the outside and I've got no idea what I'll find inside. Just wish this covid thing was over so I could offer my Topmig 150 for sale and make some space.
