Needed to be compressed a bit to be able to take them apart.

Nephew needed that sort of spinal work after binning a Ducati Paso into a tyre wall at over the ton at Donington a few years back.

Strangely, the taper in hip stuff is a semi-standard one:

We were doing stairs in a hospital once years ago and I got 2 stainless chisels out the basement. Best chisels I had but I've lost them now.

Here’s mine they had me in a induced coma for 3 days while they put me back together, with the knee they screwed it back together but misjudged the swelling so the screw was pushing the skin out a 1/4 of a inch.
