I'd guess solid wire on a pulse mig, looks a bit Hollywood to me but then it's a long time since I did stainless with mig, let alone vert up

Honestly I couldn't see that on inspection visually it's very obvious in the picture I took and I suspect it's a lighting or imaging fault? Perhaps my lens font pick up silicone I'm true colour?

It's a tiny amount of scale that collects on the surface of the weld. Does look a bit like pin pricks though.

Sure I should have picked up the holes straight off visually
It's just a photo thing I totally sure it's right were you expect silicone type deposits
